Dr. Karen Dietz

Main Areas of Expertise Neuroscience, cell biology Secondary Areas of Expertise Gene expression, animal science & behavior, neuroplasticity, myelination Biography Dr. Karen Dietz’s scientific career has been focused on the many facets of plasticity in the nervous system. Her studies began with examining the molecular and behavioral correlates of structural plasticity via changes in dendritic spine density and morphology in response to a wide range of stimuli, including learning, drugs of abuse, and stress. She then transitioned to studying the effects of these same stimuli on myelin biology, where myelination and oligodendrocyte progenitor proliferation and differentiation are impacted. She has examined aspects of neuroscience from molecular and cellular standpoints to physiologically relevant behavioural consequences, providing a diversity of scientific training that affords a unique global understanding of neurobiology. Qualifications PhD Doctorate of Neuroscience, Florida State University BSc Bachelor of Science, State University of New York at Geneseo Current Activity Freelance scientific editor
