Dr. Dan Barker

Dr. Dan Barker has a Bachelor of Engineering from the University of Adelaide, a Masters of Engineering Science from the University of Adelaide and Ph.D. from Flinders University in the field of Orthopaedic Biomechanics. His Masters and Ph.D. thesis work involved understanding the mechanisms by which artificial joints following implantation for a variety of orthopaedic conditions. Dan has worked as postdoctoral Fellow in Lund, Sweden, developing significant insights towards the design of a novel knee replacement. Dan has worked extensively with physiotherapists, occupational therapists, surgeons, bioengineers and manufacturing engineers and has a deep understanding of the connections between research, design and clinical implementation. He has authored and designed a variety of medical research studies with a focus in orthopaedic surgery and musculoskeletal medicine and has been published in leading journals in these fields. He has previously assisted many authors with editing where English was not their first language. Dan’s most recent role was as the business unit manager of the Ear, Nose and Throat division of Johnson and Johnson but has now returned to his passion of medical design, editing and writing.
