Dr. Mark Cleasby

Dr Cleasby has spent 17 years in biomedical research, having initially trained and practiced in veterinary medicine. He has worked in the UK and Australia; in the UK, he was a senior lecturer and principal investigator at the Royal Veterinary College, University of London. He has specific expertise in the areas of diabetes, metabolism and obesity research, and more widely in endocrinology and animal physiology. In particular, his research focused on the pathophysiology of insulin resistance in skeletal muscle, using physiological and cell/molecular approaches. Dr Cleasby has published numerous papers in high-impact peer-reviewed journals and is an experienced reviewer and editor. He has taught undergraduate and postgraduate veterinary and bioscience students for 8 years and has also recently been trained as a Teacher of English as a Foreign Language.
