Dr. Karl Embleton

Main Areas of Expertise Neuroimaging, Cognitive Psychology, Medical Imaging, Image Analysis and Processing Secondary Areas of Expertise Marine and Freshwater Biology, Ecology, Agricultural Sciences Biography Dr Karl Embleton has a PhD in Psychology and specializes in neuroimaging techniques and cognitive neuroscience. He has over 20 years of academic experience, having worked in a variety of disciplines including neuroimaging, medical imaging, image analysis and marine biology. Dr Karl Embleton worked as a lecturer at The University of Manchester, teaching and running the MSc course in Neuroimaging for Clinical and Cognitive Neuroscience for 6 years. Prior to this, he worked as a postdoctoral researcher after completing his PhD on studies of the neural basis of semantic memory using fMRI and diffusion-weighted MRI. Prior to commencing his PhD, Dr Karl Embleton worked in medical imaging, on projects including dynamic contrast enhanced MRI of brain tumors and inflammatory bowel disease, CT colonography, MRI measured CSF pulsatility in cervical spondylotic myelopathy and longitudinal MRI brain imaging in chronic fatigue syndrome. Previous to the career in medical imaging, Karl worked in marine biology, specializing in plankton analysis, towed marine monitoring systems and automated pattern recognition systems for phytoplankton.
