Dr. Valerie Matarese

Main Areas of Expertise Cancer research; Molecular and cellular biology; Gene expression Secondary Areas of Expertise Biochemical techniques; Signal transduction; Genomics Biography After completing her studies, Valerie did post-doctoral research at the Whitehead Institute for Biomedical Research (Cambridge, USA) and was employed for 5 years by the pharmaceutical firm Glaxo (now GlaxoSmithKlein). In 1997, she launched an independent enterprise offering editing, original content writing, and information analysis—all focused on the biomedical sciences. As part of this activity, she offers an intensive research-writing course for doctoral students in the molecular sciences and occasionally gives talks and workshops on grant writing. Throughout her career, she has published 18 peer-reviewed papers related to her own research and to issues of quality in scientific reporting (H index, 9).
