As millions of people worldwide celebrate the Lunar New Year this week, we joined the Asian communities of Manchester to celebrate with four days of events around the city.

In the week building up to the main festivities, Asian street food stalls served traditional cuisine, while the streets were decorated with red lanterns and lights. Over the weekend, the annual dragon dance parade was enjoyed by thousands of Mancunians in the city’s Chinatown district – the third largest in the Europe – which was then followed by fireworks to welcome in the year of the monkey.

The new year comes at an important time for Manchester-China business links, which in recent months saw a state visit from the Chinese president as new direct airline links to mainland China were announced.

Also celebrating were Manchester’s Korean and Vietnamese communities, and local restaurants participated by offering customary dishes.

We would like to wish all of our colleagues, clients and friends celebrating the Lunar New Year and Spring Festival a very happy and prosperous new year!
